Zaam Tours, an Afro-centric travel company, needed a website that authentically captured its adventurous ethos while promoting its diverse offerings. These include “Go-Dutch” group trips, bespoke honeymoon planning, corporate adventure experiences, and their signature service of connecting the Black diaspora to Africa. Their goal was to create an engaging platform that seamlessly blends functionality with their core mission: fostering exploration and connection through curated, adventure-packed events.

We designed a dynamic and visually captivating website for Zaam Tours, blending intuitive UX/UI features with bold, adventure-driven branding. The platform highlights their diverse services, with tailored sections for group and solo travelers, couples, and corporate clients. Special emphasis was placed on showcasing their unique “Go-Dutch” trips, personalized honeymoon packages, and transformative diaspora connection journeys. Each page incorporates an adventurous flair, aligning with Zaam Tours’ emphasis on creating memorable, exploration-filled experiences.

A Strategy of Discovery

To align Zaam Tours’ digital presence with its diverse offerings, we began with an in-depth analysis of the current experience and market landscape. We then reimagined the site’s vision based on audience needs and travel behaviors. From group “Go-Dutch” adventures to bespoke honeymoon planning and corporate trips, we developed a scalable, modular design system that captures the essence of Zaam Tours. The strategy also included mapping out user journeys, concepting high-value features, and building a platform that effortlessly showcases the company’s Afro-centric travel ethos and adventure-rich services.

We set out to redefine how Zaam Tours tells its story by identifying user pain points and key selling propositions. The result was a site that not only inspires travelers but also serves as a resource for meaningful travel experiences, connecting users to Africa and beyond.

Understanding Zaam’s customers

Zaam Tours caters to a wide range of travelers, from solo adventurers and honeymooners to corporate groups and diaspora individuals seeking connection. To ensure inclusivity and relevance, we refined Zaam Tours’ audience segments by exploring their behaviors, touchpoints, and travel aspirations. Through audience research, we identified areas where the site could better address specific needs, such as offering tools for group trip planning or emphasizing the adventure-focused elements of each experience.

Making ideas come alive

The Visual Journey Turning ideas

We built comprehensive journey maps for each audience segment, pinpointing key moments for content and feature enhancements. In parallel, we explored visual territories to create a bold, Afro-centric identity that embodies the thrill of exploration. This design language became the foundation for the site’s architecture, balancing functionality with an immersive aesthetic.

Experience Architecture and content strategy

Zaam Tours’ broad offerings required a complete overhaul of the site’s information architecture. We developed a new sitemap and conducted a comprehensive content strategy exercise for each page. This process helped ensure that each service, from “Go-Dutch” group trips to corporate adventures, was effectively communicated and easily discoverable. Motion design and features like progressive disclosure were used to guide users without overwhelming them, creating a dynamic yet straightforward user experience.

A Flexible Design System

The new design system captures Zaam Tours’ adventurous essence while emphasizing flexibility. It combines bold visuals and intuitive layouts to engage users emotionally and practically, whether they’re exploring destination options or planning group trips. The modular system allows for easy updates and scalability, empowering Zaam Tours to maintain the site effortlessly as the business grows.

User Testing

We conducted user testing to gather qualitative insights and validate design decisions. Interactive prototypes showcased various features and flows, enabling users to envision the live experience. Feedback from testing informed refinements, ensuring the final product aligned with user expectations and Zaam Tours’ mission.

Content Direction

Content creation focused on capturing the spirit of adventure while showcasing Zaam Tours’ diverse offerings. Imagery and messaging highlight everything from group adventures and romantic honeymoons to corporate retreats, all with an Afro-centric narrative that resonates with their audience.

To bring this vision to life, we implemented a robust Next.js front-end powered by Contentful CMS. Custom localization architecture supports Zaam Tours’ global reach, ensuring a tailored experience for users across regions. The modular system provides flexibility, enabling the Zaam Tours team to manage and scale their website with ease.

Content Management System

The fully modular system allows for maximum customization and reusability, ensuring every part of the site can be adapted to evolving needs. With Contentful, Zaam Tours can efficiently manage content updates, providing a dynamic and user-centric platform for their growing community of travelers.
